Design Project
BloomPods

As urbanization increases, natural habitats for pollinators and insects are rapidly disappearing. Insects such as bees, ladybugs, lacewing and butterflies are essential to maintaining healthy ecosystems, plant pollination, pest control, and biodiversity. However, cities often lack the habitats needed for these species to thrive and contribute to local ecosystems.
Made from circular wooden panels with drilled cavities, each unit provides a safe shelter for a variety of insects. The vibrant stained-glass elements allow users to customize the product in their own way, creating a visually unique structure.
The modular system allows users to customize the layout and size of their structure, making it suitable for a range of environments, such as private gardens or large public areas.
The stained-glass components not only add visual appeal but also cast colourful light, enhancing the emotional and sensory experience for people who encounter it. This makes people more likely to notice the habitats and engage with them. This allows them to become more aware of local efforts to increase biodiversity and bring awareness to this increasing issue.

Venetian Arsenale - BloomPods Exhibition
This exhibition shows the product displayed in various configurations. This shows how the design is adaptable and can be made unique, to enhance a variety of public spaces, such as community gardens, allotments, museums, and environmental centres.
The product could also be used in educational spaces such as schools, nurseries or early learning centres and university campuses.
The exhibition also includes informative displays that explain the purpose and function of the product, using diagrams and visuals to show how the modular system works and how it supports biodiversity.
The exhibition stands are made from OSB sheets which are sustainable, reusable, durable and affordable.
